WHAT IS UPLIFTED?
Vancouver Trance Family brings you another episode of UPLIFTED! In this action-packed episode you can look forward to even more of Vancouver’s BEST DJs coming at you with sounds set to blow your mind!
VTF’s UPLIFTED events have been a great success since they were first started at the beginning of June in 2011. With the idea to bring the Trance and Electronic Dance Music (EDM) community in Vancouver to appreciate the best this city has to offer, a great party is guaranteed every time. This isn’t just a party though.
The feeling one gets during one of these shows is something that is difficult to describe and is something that stays with you days after the party has ended, leaving one with an uplifting feeling and a craving for more. The amount of love in the room is really something else and that intangible essence is something no amount of money can buy. This success is due to the great crowds these events seem to attract and the amazing love and support for those DJs that don’t get the chance to headline events for these hardcore EDM fans.
Put together as a miniature rave-style event and giving each DJ an hour to show the crowd the best stuff they’ve got has been a mad success and something you don’t get anywhere else in this city. This episode of UPLIFTED will feature eight, YES…EIGHT top-notch DJs over the course of 4 hours in 2 rooms.
In the main room you’ll have a mix of Trance, starting with a diverse range of progressive and tech sounds and developing into a harder uplifting and progressive journey into a world of pounding beats and heart-wrenching melodies. The adventure is one that all Trance-enthusiasts will find quite satisfying and is sure to take you to a higher place which is what UPLIFTED is all about.
In the back room you’ll find a blend of house and progressive with a dash of electro to get the party rockin’. With a more lounged out feel to it, it’s a nice contrast to the explosive beats being dropped just on the other side of the wall in the main room. However, this doesn’t mean it won’t still be bumpin’ out of control. With a fully stocked bar, lounge-like seating and an intimate DJ setting, there’s still plenty of room to get your dance on and your drank on.
Bringing you the best of both worlds in this episode of UPLIFTED, all EDM fans can get their fill on the night while conversing with the chillest crowd of party people Vancouver has ever seen. Come on out and before the end of the night you’ll be sure to have met a whole new group of friends you’ll be looking to party with every weekend!
The Vancouver Trance Family is a close-knit and diverse group of people that have been brought together by their shared passion for Trance and EDM alike. It’s through the music that we can communicate and share our feelings of upliftment with each other and the rest of the world. VTF continues to grow and connect everyday and has become an individual-driven movement focused on both the music and the community around it. This community is full of love and acceptance and is always open to new membership. What it feels like to be part of such a great community of people is not something that you can describe, but you must experience for yourself!
Come out on August 25th and get UPLIFTED along with the rest of the Vancouver Trance Family! Featuring the hottest DJ talent in Vancouver and the best party people this city has to offer, it’s going to be a wild ride. At just ten bucks, the value received is something hard to match. We like to keep the price for these shows low because it’s about the community and we just want you to have the best time that we can possibly provide for you. See you at Shine Nightclub on August 25th when we all get UPLIFTED together!
*** The success of these events gauge the possibility of continuing regular nights to showcase different Vancouver DJs with the goal of bringing our community closer together and strengthening the Vancouver Trance and EDM scene. This is all about the people and the music. ***
Note
We will be giving away FREE AWESOME at this event, so make sure you attend!
BIOS
Aaron Olson – Nukleuz, Riot! Recordings, Traffic, Kung Fu Wax, Tech Fu Recordings, Contact Recordings
www.aaronolson.net
Starting out in the 1998 DJ circuit, Aaron Olson always had a knack for destroying dance floors. With humble beginnings playing trance and techno, Aaron quickly moved on to Hard Dance after the big Nukleuz bump in 99. Aaron spent most of the next few years jetting around Canada playing clubs and raves alike, eventually settling back down in Saskatoon and concentrating on production.Aaron’s first full production, “The Subversion EP”, a hard, tech-trance offering, was quickly snapped up by BK’s label manager Scott Attrill for Riot! Recordings. After release, “Subversion” remained in the top 100 trance charts for 8 full weeks, along with names like Armin Van Buuren, John O’Callaghan, Ferry Corsten and Nick Sentience.
His next EP, “Equilibrium”, a tech-trance offering infused with hard dance elements, signed to Traffic Recordings, received support by the likes of Flatland Funk, Scot Project, Luca Antolini, Kutski, Scott Attrill, Anne Savage, BK, Lisa Lashes, Alex Kidd, Kamui, Organ Donors, K-90 & more! It’s been hailed by Beatport.com as “…one of the best packages of mixes ever to grace Traffic Records…”
He has releases on Kung Fu Wax and a full 3 track EP out now via Tech Fu Recordings, that’s already gotten the attention of BK, Lisa Lashes, Andy Farley, JP & Jukesy, and others! Successfully, all 3 tracks landed in the top 10 hard dance tunes via Trackitdown! He has also been in the studio working with Rodi Style on a track called “Million”, which has already been licensed to a Tidy compilation as well as gained the attention of none other than Paul Glazby, who will be remixing it soon!
His trance/electro EP “Empathy” was snapped up by Nukleuz Records for their trance imprint and released earlier this year. Since then, the Electro Mix of Empathy has been licensed to 2 Nukleuz Compilations! The first being Trance Miami 2011 mixed by the Nukleuz Dj’s and the second double CD Trance Adrenaline Vol. 3 mixed by Pierre Pienaar!
Despite being an up and coming player in the tech-trance circuit, Aaron’s got a full on love for Electro/House as well. He has done an Electro remix of Sander Kleinenberg’s “This is Our Night” with huge response on both radio, from the soundcloud team and even got support by Sander himself! He has had Electro DJ mixes on DI.FM and has been consistently booked regularly in the Saskatoon area to push his Electro sound. His first Electro tune “Equilibrium (Electro Version)”, has consistently had airings on Radio Cardiff in the UK as well!
With forthcoming House/Electro collaborations with Benjamin Leung, studio time booked with Australian producer Jared Asher and remixes on Dirty Stop Outs (Ireland) and Armin Van Buuren supported label, Direct Drive Recordings (UK), the work never stops for Aaron!
If that isn’t enough, Aaron has a monthly trance/house podcast alongside Ollie Jaye (Tidy Trax/Phoenix Uprising) that features all the latest in tunes of that month, plus guest mixes (Christopher Lawrence, Simon Patterson, Mark Knight, Chris Liberator, Rodi Style and others) as well as full on interviews with the likes of Anne Savage, Paul Van Dyk and Lisa Lashes, to name but a few. On the harder edge of the coin, Aaron also is responsible for the monthly hard dance podcast for Kung Fu Wax and Tech Fu Recordings, once again, featuring the latest in hard tunes for the month plus guest mixes galore! (DJ Audy, Rodi Style, Chris Comben, BK and others)
Now as he settles in to his new home in Vancouver, he is once more ready to bring a new city to it’s knees with his signature style of musical madness!

MYNAK
(Trance/Progressive)
http://www.facebook.com/MynakMusic
Aleem Virani returns, better than ever. After winning the 2010 VTF DJ Opener Contest and starting off a magical night for the one and only Arnej on September 24, 2010 at Shine Nightclub in Gastown, he is back in full force and ready to deliver some mind melting, skull smashing, brain belting Trance. The energy he brings to the dance floor is unique and fresh, mixing multiple flavours that keep crowds interested and coming back for more. For over a year Aleem Virani was front and center at every show, writing down every song that world famous DJs would play. After watching for so long, Aleem decided it was time to start doing this himself under the moniker “Mynak”.
Mynak’s first love would be Trance music, the genre that absorbed him into the world of Electronic Dance Music. Teaching himself everything about mixing using only emulation software, Mynak soon got hold of a set of CDJs and became thoroughly addicted.
Despite the short amount of time that he’s been at this, Mynak has already shown tremendous potential. Consistently complimented on song selections and sets, winning contests, and DJing top events, Mynak has proved an ear for quality music. The future looks promising for this electronic music lover.
GILES BJERKE
(House/Progressive/Trance)
http://www.gilesbjerke.com/
Giles Bjerke began his musical career at an early age with rich exposure to a variety of genres. Through friends and personal exploration, Giles Bjerke discovered the sounds of electronica and immediately fell in love with the energy and depth it offered. His ear for music and feel for rhythm from 9 years of drums and percussion allowed for a natural transition to the world of turntables and mixing in 2006.Giles Bjerke was discovered by the Vancouver Trance Family not too long ago. At the same time, he discovered the VTF and instantly fell in love with the driving passion for music the community shares with him. Entering into the UPLIFTED DJ Contest for the UPLIFTED event on June 30, 2011, Giles Bjerke madly impressed both judges and fans alike. While he was a favourite in the running, it came down to a vote and he was the runner- up. However, the Vancouver Trance Family loved Giles Bjerke and his Progressive Trance style so much, they asked him to play the next show. It just wouldn’t be fair to the people to not experience the journey this fantastic DJ creates with his diverse range of progressive and tech sounds and so he is here and ready to bring it to the VTF and anyone else willing to get UPLIFTED!
The DJ Giles ‘As One Podcast’ will soon be available for subscription on iTunes. It will feature his trademark style and capture the element of emotion, people, and music together as one. Stay tuned!
